I have been using a mark apparatus since we opened our store three years ago. My mark apparatus of choice back then was the Brother PT-1950 P-upset PC-Equipped Labeler for Small Workgroups.

I was thankful to check out the Dymo Mark Apparatus because there were some honest problems with my older apparatus. Here are the features I really like in the Dymo.

1) Rechargeable batteries included. No need to agonize about the batteries, just plug in and keep charged, then when you are equipped to go, grab the mark apparatus and take it with you.

2) “Small” ends on the marks. The Brother left over an inch on any side of the marks, and wasted about 50% of the marks I made. Given the cost of the marks, this is a feature that is truly helpful.

3) The cleverness to easily save the mark for re-use shortly.

4) The “sizing” feature on the Dymo. It is possible to designate a length of mark, then question the Dymo to print the mark to that size. This is particularly nice for putting marks on Items I have canned.

5) The “like” outline capability on the marks (again, a nice feature for canned goods I enter in the honest). Nice counts.

6) The simple capability of making 2-line marks.

7) The cleverness to add symbols (Like $ % @) makes it very functional for a store or business.

8) The marks do come in clear, making the mirror image feature (a nice addition) matter-of-fact for putting the mark on the inside of a dialogue box or other glass and have it come owing to in the right directions.

A couple of areas that disappointed me – small, but I wanted to point them out.

A) You cannot use the Dymo Mark Manager while it is plugged in. The adapter it uses is proposed ONLY for charging the mark apparatus. So you really DO need to keep those batteries charged for when you are using it.

B) It will take me awhile to get used to the Alphabetic keyboard …

C) The Brother PT had an “compulsory cut” feature, this one must be manually cut by pushing the button hard enough to clip owing to the mark.

* Note – the video is a bit blurry, but I wanted to post it anyway so that you could see some of the features. It’s a VERY handy apparatus!

I bought this printer hoping to use it on Ebay Paypal to print shipping marks. Well it works perfectly as a mark printer on Paypal/Ebay. It has saved me a ton of time and worth the money I washed-out since I ship frequently.

For develop in paypal if I have to ship ten instructions using the multi shipping tool I print all ten marks at once. You have the option of printing a packing page to a regular printer that tells you what is to be packed in each order for the marks just printed. You need to know the weight for each shipment before printing the marks though.

Its appears that the Dymo printer is compatible with Zebra printers. Use the multi shipping tool in Paypal and set your printer to a Zebra 4X6 printer. If you are not using multi shipment in Paypal be sure to set your printer type to thermal and pick one of the Zebra 4X6 printers.

Other reviewers said the printer jams frequently. I have no such problem. What I reckon may have happened to that reviewer was they did not discard the first marks. Before you install a new roll for the first time you have to remove a small piece of tape from the roll. Unfortunately that tape foliage a sticky residue on one of the exposed marks. If you use that mark it will place that same sticky residue in the printer causing marks to stab and jam. Dont take the chance and just get rid of the first 2 or three marks on the roll.

One reviewer said the marks fade with time. Well its a “thermal” printer and nearly each device that prints on thermal document the “ink” fades. Its really heat the “colors” the document and that type of document fades over time. That is a fact of thermal technology not a problem with the printer.

Extra credit: Take those marks you discard from the new roll and place them in direct sunlight for a few days
